The ASPPA Benefits Council of Atlanta is sponsoring an Interactive Live Stream Webinar featuring Ilene Ferenczy and Alison Cohen of Ferenczy Benefits Law Center.  Ilene & Alison will teach a  DC-1 Exam Prep class with 2 – 4 hours sessions held on Thursday & Friday, November 2-3, 2017 from 12 – 4 pm.  A total of 8 ASPPA Continuing Education Credits are available for all participants, which makes this an excellent opportunity for all ASPPA credentialed members to obtain required CE credits as well as refresh their basic understanding of retirement plan rules.  The cost of registration through the ABC of Atlanta is $300 for an individual or $900 for a business with unlimited participants.  Originally priced at $500 for individuals/$1,500 for businesses, this discounted rate is hard to beat.

BUT, THE ASPPA BENEFITS COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA DID JUST THAT!  As a benefit to our members, the ABC of Greater Philadelphia is hosting a site for Members Only to register for this class at the low cost of $100 per individual.  ASPPA National members cost is discounted to $75.  What a deal for 8 CE credits! Not currently an ABC of Greater Philadelphia Member?  Click here to join for the remainder of 2017 & 2018.

To register through the ABC of Atlanta and participate in the webinar in your own office, follow the links in the ABC of Atlanta flyer below.  To register through the ABC of Greater Philadelphia and attend the sessions at the office of Ballard Spahr in Center City Philadelphia, click on the following link here.

DC-1 2-Day Exam Prep Course

Session Description

The DC-1 exam is the first key step to obtaining your QKA or QPA designations. More importantly, the DC-1 provides a thorough overview of what you should know about the operations of defined contribution plans. Ilene Ferenczy and Alison Cohen, from Ferenczy Benefits Law Center, will spend two half-day sessions with you to review the materials that you will need to know in order to successfully pass the DC-1 exam (Click HERE to learn more about the DC-1 Exam). Topics covered will include:

·     Basic plan qualification requirements, including plan document requirements

·     Different types of qualified plans

·     Eligibility, participation, vesting, forfeitures, contributions and allocations, and deductibility of contributions

·     Understand highly compensated and key employee definitions, including top-heavy plans

·     Plan amendments, plan termination, and annual reporting requirements

·     ASPPA Code of Professional Conduct and common ethical issues you may face on the job

Attendees should purchase the DC-1 textbook and should read the materials before attending the classes (Click HERE to purchase your textbook). The purpose of the classes is to help prepare you for the exam and will be most efficient if you are already familiar with the materials. You will have the ability to ask questions throughout the sessions. You can bring your laptop to take notes, if you prefer, and copies of the presentation materials will be provided to you. Students registering for the in-person class will also receive lunch as part of the program.
